Students will Learn the basics of camp cookery to include what to carry and ration for numbers in the party, dry goods and sundries, care of cooking tools in the field, creating cook apparatus off the landscape, small game butchering, fire management, cooking on outdoor stoves, and Cast-Iron cooking in a single pot or pan.

  • Cooking apparatus from the landscape
  • Knives and tools for cooking and meat processing
  • Choosing and caring for cookware
  • Seasoning and cleaning Cast Iron
  • Other types of cookware and care
  • Cooking utensils and Materials
  • Dry goods and perishables needed for cooking
  • Spices and Condiments
  • Making cowboy coffee
  • Basic cooking- Baking, Roasting, Stewing, Frying and Steaming
  • Small game butchering
  • Wood Stove and Camp Stove cooking
