- Product Description
The Wedge by Marbles and Pathfinder is designed by Dave Canterbury. This tools design intent is multifaceted, it can replace and axe for splitting in an ultralight kit in conjunction with a folding saw, weighing just 8oz. But it can also be used with an axe as a spare splitting wedge and or wedge for felling trees in a base camp environment. It’s also safer than an axe for newer folks and much more effective than a small hatchet for splitting rounds over 5”
- 6000 series aluminum
- Weight: 8 oz.
- Checkered pattern on the wedge to help grip wood
- Hole with threads to attach handle
- Bow drill divot on both sides
*Do not strike with steel objects.

It is an amazing tool. Very light and it is sharp. I added a handle and tried it on some pine for my wood stove - worked well but ned to find a somewhat softer wood for the handle. The concept was to cut a tree branch g tho I make a handle in the field. I like it!!
very well consrtucted, feel it should be an inch wider and an inch longer . It reminds my of the wedges the Fire Service uses
I bought this wedge for backpacking trips and it will definitely split any logs you can cut with a folding saw or bucksaw easy. I tried some bigger logs and it does work but it's not the right tool for the job. Also works for a felling wedge. It's much better than trying to double stack plastic wedges.
I have not had a chance to use it yet. Appears well made and it is light. (I like marbles. My 1st hatchet was a marbles forest hatchet-great price for handforged head and (nice but small) hickory handle- see review by wranglerstar) and of course Pathfinder is great!
