Bushcraft Essentials

Excellent subject content. The illustrations are easy to to follow and understand. Great resource.

Great addition to your Bush Craft books

The book is small and compact 4.5" x 7". Easy to read and follow content. This book touches what the other book set have but in a brief way. It is more of a refresher on the basics of Bushcraft touching on the essentials as the title states. Illustrations are clear to see and read. This book can be carried into the field with you as a refresher/quick pocket tool because of its size. If you haven't read the other book sets and start with this one you should be fine as long as you have some knowledge on field camping and field craft.

Bush Craft Essentials

This book is a great reference to carry camping. It was well though out to carry by size and each page edge identify the chapter you are in. Thus providing quickly where you are in the book. There is a glossary at the end defining certain words like azimuth and a good index. The book is written like a person talking to you on bushcraft with pictures only where needed. The pictures mostly cover knots, lashing, plants, tree leaves and navigation. It did a great job covering what to take camping and why. It covers plants and trees for healing with pictures. I liked the area of the many uses of pine trees and white ash from campfires. The area on cleaning up after you do your business was priceless. It covered hydration but not how to select a water source. Like any wildlife in the water. It did cover the basic treatment of water good. On navigation, I do not think it covered star navigation at all. Compass use was explained adequately and explained why people probably walk in circles when lost. To me this is a must have book. You have to remember no book covers everything and that is why you need to read several books on the subject. This being one of them.

Pocket size

I’m still reading this book, although it’s the perfect size to throw in a cargo pocket or a backpack for a quick study. I have a lot of pathfinder gear and everything that comes from Dave is top notch. This is no different.

Handy to have

This is a great reference tool to have with you...it's compact and weatherproof so it's a no-brainer to throw this in your map pocket. I wanted to mention that when I ordered my autographed copy something went haywire and I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks. I contacted SRO and Larry explained the order was missed somehow and the autographed copies are all sold. He told me they would ship a copy for Dave to throw his John Hancock on and ship to me! I was truly blown away! That's the kind of personal attention people don't forget...I sure won't! Bravo SRO & Dave you have a customer for life...Thank you again. Dan R
