Pathfinder scout pack

Everything they said it was! VERY well made and thought out. Plenty of what’s needed and nothing you don’t. Material is tough and compartments well placed. Thanks, Dave, for another quality product from pathfinder. I’m proud to carry the logo items as I have never heard a bad review on any of them!

Sincerely,
Dennis Rhodes - Midwest Backwoods

Great Pack

This pack performs as advertised. It is a good size for several days out in the woods, more if you pack a little lighter. I usually pack pretty light, but went with kids this time, and it was comfortable to me with 30 lbs or better in it. The rain cover works well, and the zippers and other fasteners are good quality. I look forward to many more trips with this piece of kit.

gobsmacked! amazing pack worth six stars... so glad i purchased

I'll try to keep this short. I replaced a Kelty Falcon 4000 with this PF Scout Pack. The reasons for this include but aren't limited to the exact reasons the Dave Canterbury outlined in his original video on the design prerogatives of the Scout Pack. I was quite skeptical, especially about the lack of load lifters, but I just sold my Kelty and this Scout Pack is my new bag. If you're not familiar with the Falcon 4000, suffice to say that the fact that this pack replaces it for me is an absolutely massive statement of approval. But I'll keep it simple and just list pros and cons.

REASONS TO BUY
1. build integrity - 1000d nylon should last as long as one takes good care of it...
2. design intention - designed to be as 'grayman' as a large pack can be while still incorporating abundant MOLLE options and milspec materials...
3. versatility - day pack around town? yup roll it tight, it doesn't attract undue attention in the city. going camping? pack it up! bug out? if your gear is dialed in enough to fit in a 35 liter (or more with modular additions) this bag is actually IDEAL as a get-home or bug-out bag. likewise, hunting, camping, section/thru hiking, haha doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc this pack doesn't attract much negative attention or much attention at all. perfect...
4. weight - great combo (at ~3lbs plus modular additions) of lightweight asthetic and heavyweight strength and durability. seriously hit the sweet spot here Dave, well done cap'n...
5. modularity - mentioned previously, but for a non military bag, the amount and placement of the MOLLE is robust...
6. balance of simplicity and capacity - awesome pockets, simple internal storage area without internal pockets, perfect for a trash basket, pack liner, or similar full-scale waterproof solution...
7. carries weight well considering its design - when fully packed, and adjusted to precision, weight is distributed well, mostly on lumbar region of body, as it should be...
8. keeps my money 'in the family' - support Pathfinder School, Self Reliance Outfitters, if you want to see more great gear developed around the priorities that are important to bushcraft and survival, well then buy into it!
9. price - two hundo and worth every penny... there isn't a category of packs like this one, so its uniqueness could command a higher price. i think SRO is generous to price it as low as they did.

ok there's more, but you get it, and the rest has been covered well by Dave and others. now moving on...

REASONS TO CONSIDER OTHER PRODUCTS

1. no top MOLLE - this means i can't load the back up on top, or in other words build upwards. i can attach a sleep system, tent, and/or dry bag or stuff sack to the bottom very easily. But my personal preference is to build down and also up. I like to keep my tent attached to the top, and this pack has no MOLLE on top. I have designed a solution which works for me, and it incorporates the top MOLLE loops on the shoulder straps and the MOLLE loop just above the straps on the front of the brain. i attached standard key rings through these 4 MOLLE loops, and with small caribiners and some shock cord, now i can build up. unfortunately this restricts EASY access to the brain pocket, so i include this in reasons to think about your purchase carefully...
2. no load lifters - i've never had a pack without them, but this one works. I mentioned weight distribution in reasons to buy, but it did take a series of very subtle micro-adjustments to dial the pack in so that it rested on my lumbar. By adjusting the shoulder straps to precision, you can wear this is a heavy pack and not wreck your shoulders. it is NOT as comfortable as a pack with load lifters, and i would welcome the weight addition if it was possible to add them in future versions.

that's it. the pros are important and definitely extend beyond those listed here, and the cons are both negligible and manageable.

AMAZING pack. Thanks Dave and team SRO. You really shine bright with this design... please keep up the good work!
