Helikon - FoxTrot Mk2 Belt Rig (1997922566193)

This backpack allows the heaviest loads to be carried, but shoulder bag gives faster access to the contents, while belt rig sort-of combines them both. For long hikes over uneven terrain, belt-carry is the wisest solution. It does not distort the body thermal regulation, spreads the load evenly, saving backbone, and all items are within quick reach. The Foxtrot Mk2 Belt Rig can be worn as a stand-alone item or be worn with functional suspenders. The design is easily adjustable in all ranges. The Foxtrot comprises the main compartment with open-top sewn water bottle pockets, a partial belt at sides with MOLLE/PALS attachment points for modular pouches (med kit, knife pouch, cargo pouch etc.). ALICE and other 50-mm ribbon tapes based pouches can be attached. The main compartment comprises two zippered pockets with a velcro-closed one on the front. Additional Versatile Insert System-compatible inserts can be added within the main compartment. Rolled poncho or thin seating mat can be held under the top-of-the-pocket rubber band – or under the compression ribbons at the bottom. Suspenders are easily-adjustable with velcro at the back, they stabilize the load and spread the loads all over the wearer’s frame. Foxtrot Mk2 is an ideal solution for Nordic Walking-style hikes.

      Goes everywhere I do

This bag is awesome. You will be surprised at the amount of gear you can put in it. Plus, it is very easy to add a couple pouches to the belt on either side. I added 2 pouches (one IFAC, and 1 that holds general purpose) and a canteen holder (with stainless steel canteen and nesting cup (for boiling water/cooking). I use the 2 side water pouches for clean water. A tarp or other type of shelter easily fits in the straps at the bottom. I attach with bungees on the top any rain gear I do not want to wear at that time. For a bigger load you can put this on and then a backpack over the top, this bag helps support the backpack. I love it. It goes with me everywhere.

      My everything

I literally take this every time I hike/camp. Has room for my 10C’s and fits perfectly under my 21 L pack so I can take pack off set up camp and hang it with food and continue to explore effortlessly and have everything I need to get back. Never had a problem with it fitting or straps coming loose ever. Works well with the chest rig for easy navigation helikon has one.

      Almost Everything I Wanted

      FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I wanted to add this to my hiking/ camping loadout to be a separate system while scouting. The harness seems a bit thin, and has no padding, but not too different from my old school Y - harness. I wish it was at least a bit wider to better distribute the weight, but it's lighter than my old harness.

Highly adjustable; it will ride as high or low as you like (although waist level is optimal, when worn alone). Mine rides just below the waist to accommodate my pack.

      MODS

I carry (2) 32 oz. Nalgene stainless steel bottles, and the stretch cords meant to hold them slip down. Aanything other than walking would ensure new dents and scratches, assuming I don't lose them. I replaced the stretch cord with a paracord system that pinches tight around the bottle's neck, beneath the cap, like a noose. I used the plastic clips that were on the stretch cords to accomplish this.

Lastly, I thought to try attaching this as a butt pack directly to my bag, but the belt is sewn unto the pack with no non - destructive way of detaching. It is possible to strap the Foxtrot by the D rings with the straps used to hold rolls under your backpack, and remove the harness altogether, but it gets floppy (I tried).

All in all, it's a really cool pack, and I'll definitely be testing it on long excursions as a replacement for my old school Y - Harness. The H is a lot more comfortable, although that could just be great design on Helikon's part.

      Great Buy!

I quit driving to improve my health in Oct 2012 so I've come to use lots of bags & packs & this pack is so handy in so many ways I was thrilled when I finally got it. Might seem a bit small but can attach another pack over main compartment if needed. Totally satisfied.

      Great bag!

What a great piece of gear. I’ve said it a dozen times, but if it comes from SRO you know it’s good. This is really well made and super adjustable. I’m a big fella and it fits me with room to spare. It’s great by itself, but I added two helikon pouches on the molle portion on the waist belt. Perfect day hike kit! Super comfy with the padded waist belt and holds a ton of gear. I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants a great piece of gear at a great price!!
