Basic Survival Required Equipment List
- Camping is Primitive (Tent/Hammock) and Walk-In Only
- Food is not provided, so bring adequate food and snacks
- Electrolyte drink mixes are recommended (Gatorade, Powerade, or Jello)
- Port-a-Potties are located 400 yards from Base Camp and serve as the only means of restroom facilities

EXPENDABLE GEAR
- 1 roll Gorilla Tape (1") (Must be Gorilla brand. Must be 1", NOT 2")
- 100 ft Tarred Bank Line (Twisted, tarred. NOT braided. NOT mason line. NOT jute)
- 100 ft 550 Paracord – ORANGE (Pathfinder or Atwood Rope Company)
- 2 Shemaghs – ORANGE, 100% COTTON ONLY (No blends)
- 2 Drum Liners – 55 gal, 6 mil (Must be 6 mil. NOT 3 mil)
- 1 XXXL T-Shirt – ORANGE, 100% COTTON ONLY
CORE GEAR
- Backpack (35–40L) (Must securely carry 2 stainless containers and an accordion pad)
- Emergency Tarp (5x7) (Mylar on one side, orange on the other)
- 8 ABS Tent Stakes (ABS plastic only. NO metal)
- Accordion Sleep Pad (Must be orange on one side)
- Mil-Spec Poncho
- Poncho Liner OR Swagman Roll (This is NOT your poncho)
- Water Containers: (All must be stainless, removable caps, single wall only, No Stoves, No Bottle Bags)
- 2 Stainless Steel Bottles or Canteens 32 oz (single wall only)
- 1 Stainless Nesting Cup
- Silky Folding Saw
- Belt Knife (Carbon steel, full tang, minimum 4.25" blade, sharp 90° spine, NOT coated, must have sheath)
- Multi-Tool OR Swiss Army Knife
- Cold Steel Shovel (Fixed Handle Only, NO collapsible shovels)
- Canvas Sail Needle (#10 or #14 ONLY) (Single needle. NOT a sewing kit)
- Baseplate Compass with Mirror - Suunto MC-2 (360°, NOT quadrant)
- Headlamp With Spare Batteries OR Charging Brick (Minimum white AND red light setting options)
- Ferro Rod (6" long × ½" diameter. NOT small or keychain size)
- Analog Watch (NO smart watches)
- Leather Gloves
- Rite in the Rain Notebook – Orange (4.625" × 7") (Stapled. NO spiral. NO other sizes)
- Pencils
PERSONAL ITEMS
- Basic Hygiene Only (Toothbrush, toothpaste, prescription meds, feminine hygiene items)
NOTE: First aid kits are carried by instructors.
- Electrolytes & Snacks (No full meals. Eat on the move — jerky, trail mix, protein bars, etc.)
- 1 Pair Spare Socks and Underwear
- Bug Repellent (Optional)
- Weather Appropriate Clothing
FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY (SEPARATE FROM PACK)
- Tent OR Hammock Setup
- This gear must be packed separately from your main kit.
- It will be transported by trailer to the camping area.
