For years customers have raved about our oilskin watch coat. The 18th Century design of waxed cloth over layer does a great job of keeping out the rain in rough terrain. The number one thing we hear about that watch coat is that modern folks expect a hood. To fill that need while maintaining historical integrity we’ve developed a separate hood with a mantle. Made out of our same waterproof oilskin, it is nice and thin but completely impervious to water. The hood can be worn over our watch coat for full upper body protection. If is a little misty, then just wear the hood to keep your head and shoulders dry.

I love oil cloth, I’ve waited along time for someone to make this for any of my oils skin coats with out a hood - it folds into any of my pockets-and works like a charm - even fits my fat head at 6ft 240 pound male body , it’s perfect! THANKU l wear my hair very long and don’t like a hood on my coat all the time -this is a dream wish come true , I’ll be ordering another for the pockets of deferent coats -folds so small you don’t know it’s there till ya need it -thumbs up to self Reliant outfitters on this one
I haven't been able to use it yet, but just by the look of it I going to like it. Excellent quality, light weight and great craftsmanship. As usual Great products with fast and friendly service. Next on my get list is both a 6×8 and an 8×8 oilcloth tarps.
I haven't had a chance to give it a full blow weather test yet, but I can already tell that it will meet my expectations. Surprisingly light weight but covers very well. It packs down nice and flat when folded. It will easily fit in the pocket of my wool jacket, which is what I intend to wear it with most often.
