Signaling - Master Class
The Signaling Master Class will build upon basic Signaling Skills and Principles to alert Search and Rescue or help of the survivors' need of rescue and aid. Students will learn the characteristics of Signaling as well as improvised signaling skills to alert Search and Rescue in a Survival Situation with or without a Signal Kit. Advanced Signaling options will be introduced and demonstrated to the students which they will then recreate to standard. Students, in teams, will be required to build Passive and Active, Night and Day as well as Visual and Auditory Signals within the allotted time frame. Signaling Items will be provided as well as natural materials for the students to create four Signals during the Final Practical Exercise that encompass all Survival Signaling Characteristics. At the end of the Master Class students will have learned and built upon basic signaling concepts, characteristics, and will have demonstrated advanced and improvised options reserved for the more advanced survival students.
Course Timeline:
1:00 to 1:30 – Introduction & Signaling Kit Discussion
1:30 to 2:00 – Signaling Demonstrations, Instructor Led
2:00 to 2:15 – Practical Instruction & Kit Issue
2:15 to 2:45 – Student Practical Exercise (Teams)
2:45 to 3:00 – Clean Up & After-Action Review
