Purpose and Objectives
The Scout course at The Pathfinder School is part two of the Intermediate course series. The Scout Class focuses on moving camp skills, the use of Map and Compass, quick camps, leaving less of a footprint, sleeping with minimal gear to stay quiet and unnoticed within the landscape. Quick food gathering techniques and wild edibles and trail nibbles. What to carry for eating on the go and not making elaborate camp or cooking fires. Students can expect to be moving throughout much of the day hiking with their gear in excess of 7 miles daily.
Weather changes will determine what skills we teach during this class.
You MUST be a minium of 16 years old to attend this class, NO exceptions. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Each student who wishes to be eligble for a Patch will need to have their own complete set of required gear. Chaperones are not eligible for certification but accompany the youth the entire time during the course.

NOTE: IF YOU NEED TO ORDER ITEMS FROM SELF RELIANCE OUTFITTERS YOU MUST DO SO NO LATER THAN TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO CLASS TO ENSURE YOU RECEIVE YOUR GEAR. ORDERS CANNOT BE SHIPPED TO THE SCHOOL PROPERTY FOR PICK UP.
Due to property insurance restrictions: There will be no camping on the school property prior to the start of the class or after the classes concludes. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
