Have done my own blacksmithing I have made some decent knifes and hawks. This is just what I’d make, nice size , great balance. I also purchased the six-way leather sheath, nice pairing.
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from PKS again
I bought this knife a few years ago and use it for lots of training scouts in our troop to baton firewood. It's easy to maintain an edge. It's built like a tank if you're an ultra light person you may want to look elsewhere. I have used it on trips to the boundary waters and If I don't lose it I hope to give it to a grandson that isn't born yet.
solid and robust, I have been using this knife for about a year. I thought the thickness was too much, but the scandi grind helps to work well. an excellent companion
Fit and finish is great on this knife. It really fits a perfect size niche as it’s long enough to really get some cutting done but not so darn wide as many blades are on the market now. I have the maple scales and they are just smooth enough. They leave the steel unpolished on the spine which has created a little rust but it was easily removed with some steel wool. It’s in CA now so I don’t for-see that being an issue. The last point and the biggest is whoever sharpened this knife definitely knew what they were doing. The grind is done perfectly from tip to handle, it’s perfectly even which some large companies can’t get perfect. It is razor sharp.
In total this knife punches way above its weight class. There are many makers out there that could slap their name on this knife and charge you $250 for it. And they sell.
As someone who has collected and messed with all types of knives for years I can honestly say this is the best knife I’ve ever owned. The quality and craftsmanship is second to none. My walnut handle is elegant, the 90 degree spine showers sparks from a fero rod, and is an excellent scraper. It is a thick solid knife, yet tappers down to its razor sharp blade. Being made in the USA is the icing on the cake. I buy and support US production any chance I get.
If you are on the fence just get this knife. You will have no regrets.
