Russian Infantry Shovel (4521408069681)

All shovels are not created equally. Featuring four sharply sharpened faces, this Titanium tool provides a means for cutting, chopping, and digging. A versatile, lightweight perfect addition to the pack.

  • OAL: 20.5"
  • Shovel Face width: 6
  • 1lb 2oz.
  • Durable/Multi-purpose

Made in Russia

Handle Note:

The handle of the shovel is made of wood. Accordingly, the tree dries and swells depending on the temperature and environment. These shovels come straight from Russia - in the heat, traveling across the oceans, and the cold. Accordingly, the tree is subject to both narrowing and expanding. This is typical for axes, hammers, and shovels - for everything that has a handle made of wood. So if you experience any play in the handle, it should be placed in water for a while - so that the tree compensates for the lack of moisture and then the handle will regain its snug, original fit.

Great shovel buy it

I don't understand bad ratings for this shovel. Extremely light and handle is not loose at all. Very well made. Only negative would be the wood could be better selected, however any bushcrafters should be able to easily replace it in the field if needed. I do not for see any problems just some might want hard wood.

Russian infantry shovel

Very simple and lightweight. Appears well made with a tightly fitted handle. Semi sharp edges for light chopping making for a multi use tool as well. Very pleased.

Dave is hard on his own products, but that's a good thing

First watched David Cantebury give this shovel, a product in his own store, a critical review. I calculated his critique into the price of the shovel. Dave lamented this shovel did not have a hardwood handle; instead it has a softwood handle. But, the hardwood replacement handle costs about $10 on Amazon. So added to the price of this shovel, we're at $60. However, this shovel in Titanium w/hardwood handle goes for $65-70 on Amazon. So if you don't mind a tiny bit of modification, you can have this shovel for $50; a low enough price for admission into having a great tool. You can get the hardwood handle later, when you have a spare $10. These amounts may seem insignificant, but for me it meant the difference between buying this shovel from SRO and having no shovel for awhile. I will get the hardwood handle at my convenience, and then later have the softwood handle as a spare (which I'll toss in the truck if need be as an interim handle). But must say, Dave's critical review was instrumental in helping me decide to buy. It helps that Dave has not turned into a complete salesman. He wants us all to survive, and there will be no surprises, he'll tell us everything we need to know. So his critical review is what sold me, or at least helped. Shovel itself, so far so good. SRO/Dave thanks for the critical review of your own product and the great starting price. It's hard to get into a titanium spetsnaz shovel for less than $50, or with hardwood handle for less than $60. Well done.
