Tip: If you run out of flint, smash an old porcelain glass or bowl. A thick one is better, because you'd want to lay into the NON-polished edge.
The 1st run of this striker is still working fine. It's been struck atleast 400 times. Also I'd like to say the other striker blanket pins and Fork DO work fine, you might need that blue coloured flint.
I'd buy more, but the shipping is crazy for us Australians, we are literally in a recession down here.
I found the size to be 3" L X 3/4 W X 3/16 Thick. this was better then the 1/8" thick, i was expecting. it will last much longer . with good flint you get nice sparks. every one of the steel strikers from SRO have been great.
First off, as expected, the edges are cut very cleanly - it throws sparks using flint or a ferro rod just as well as my PLSK1's spine. For just a pure striker, and I've seen my share, this one leaves 'em all in a shower of sparks.
Second, befitting a tool meant for use, there is some tarnish present (no rust). I couldn't care less but I figured I'd warn those looking for finish perfection. It'd be easy to polish up a perfect finish, as it's just surface tarnish - no rust, no pits, no knicks. For me, I like the "don't waste time on that which is not functional" approach that PKS took.
Finally, the 24" length tripped me up. I thought that was total length. It's actually the length from one end to the striker as it hangs. The total length is a bit over 48" on the 2 I got.
I'm glad I bought two. For the price, once word gets out, these should disappear quickly.
First of all, I have bought all kinds of equipment from the Pathfinder store. All great items. But this one fell short. I can get a few Sparks from it but not many. I have a piece of broken file that I use. It works great. But can't put a hole in the thing that is why I bought this one. Again it just doesn't produce the same Sparks as my file. Still love your other items
