This blade has been used to process two Alaska Bull Moose and one Bull Caribou this months season. I really love this blade. PFT knife smiths are turning out top quality blades. Keep it up guys.
After months of trying to get one, I finally had some good timing on the website so it was still in stock. But, no sheaths were available. I ordered anyway and am happy with the knife as it arrived with no apparent shortcomings.
If anyone ended up without sheath, the Camp & Trail fits perfectly in the Bark River Bravo 1 Ambidextrous sheath.
I ordered this knife based on the suggestion of Corporal's Corner through his You Tube channel and his use of it in the videos he post. I'm going to label this knife as a production handcrafted product, by no means am I expressing negative criticism. This is only one customers opinion.
The blade, is fantastically forged. Love the "More Dirty by Design" when compared to the Scorpion and Kephart that were delivered the same day as the Camp & Trail. I did however use a fine grit of sandpaper to expose more of the "PFT" symbol on the blade. I want the badge of craftmanship to be immediately noticed by others that I may introduce this knife to. The grind is even all the way to the very tip, elegant to admire when in hand. The sharpness..... was lacking abit but that has been corrected to when cutting paper it no longer tears. The spine is very sharp as well as the underside where it meets the scales. I've wrapped #36 bankline around this area of the blade so it doesn't cut into my thumb or finger when choking tight on the knife, just a added comfort. The maple scales are perfectly evenly rounded with no protruding edges at the tang of the blade. There is a difference in length at the front of the scales where they meet the blade but this did not deter me from giving this knife 5 stars. I passed on the offered sheath and have instead order the SGO sheath. I have one for another knife so I know the Camp & Trail fits snug.
For the price, this is a GREAT knife to own.
I just received it today. I have not had a chance to test it. But I did measure it. I know it says 3/32 blade thickness but its a fat 3/32. Closer to 1/8 across the spine. It came sharp and the grind looks very consistent across the length of the blade, and the blade was coated with a protective oil, and the blade was shrink-wrap to keep the oil on the blade. Box was well packed i am planning on doing testing later this week. But I have a feeling from my first impressions over the past 2 hours of looking at it, and handling it. This knife will be an excellent performer. I first got a glimpse of it on Sean Kelly (corporals corner) feels really good in the hand. I mean really good!! The only thing is that when I got the email that it was finally available. I got in such a big hurry to get it ordered that forgot to order the sheath. Ill do that tonight. I'll do a follow up review with that and I'll share my thoughts and experience with the knife. Oh one more thing delivery was quicker than expected. 2 thumbs up to the the crew of of the knife shop
