Maximum 3 students per session
Class will be held at:
Self Reliance Outfitters
4723A South Emerson Ave
Indianapolis, IN 46203
Lessons are for Traditional style archery using takedown recurve bows, focusing on form and safety , providing students with the basics that get them safely shooting, and offer a general feel for archery. We'll go over range rules, safety gear (finger tabs, gloves, arm guards, etc), and size the bow to the archer. The session is suitable for those that have no experience, or those that may have shot before and need a refresher.
Self Reliance Outfitters teaches the National Training System, which has been established as the method of training by US Olympic head Coach Kisik Lee.
This session is designed to maximize the use of proper muscles and balance, combined with clear mental preparation, while teaching a series of components/steps which build on one another.
The Beginner Archery class will include the following:
Eye dominance determined (eye dominance determines proper bow selection and aim)
Archery equipment sized to each archer
Archery safety rules
Warm up exercises/drills
Review safety rules & range courtesy
Basic shooting techniques -National Training System method
We recommend that equipment is not purchased until the student has been assessed for eye dominance, has learned the fundamentals, and has completed the Beginner Traditional Archery Class under the supervision and guidance of our certified USA Archery Training Coach. We can advise on proper equipment for purchase upon completion of the Beginner Traditional Archery Class. Remember, with proper form, practice, and repetition, students will gain strength which could require him/her to be re-evaluated for proper bow selection, Self Reliance Outfitters and our Certified Archery Training Coach will be here to assist you at that time.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to gear up, set up, and sign the mandatory waiver form prior to class. Students are asked to help with equipment care and clean up after the session.
