2019 Gathering Workshops

Axe Hanging - Instructed by Chris Killinger

All supplies and tool including Axe Head & Handle will be provided. Each student will need to bring a pair of leather gloves and a pair of safety glasses. This is a six hours workshop broken up in two parts. Each person leaves with the axe they worked on.

Cost $85 per person - Limited to 12 students.

  • Part 1: Friday, July 12th - 10am to 1pm
  • Part 2: Saturday, July 13th - 1pm to 4pm

Band Weaving - Instructed by Tony Daniel

After completing the workshop you will take home a Heddle & Shuttle. Class materials will be included. There will be two opportunities to take this workshop.

Cost $100 per person - Limited to 8 students per workshop

Infusions & Decoctions - Instructed by Kevin Baxter

This workshop will include gathering and preparation of plant material and getting started in the plant studies information. At the conclusion of the workshop you will take home an infused oil.

Junkyard Flint Knapping - Instructed by Justin Cook

Learn how to chip glass and stone with primitive tools to make fully functional weapons. “JunkYard Flint Knapping” is utilizing bottle glass and ceramic to make LETHAL non metallic tools. This class will focus on the “common man’s” ability to source material and make tools, regardless of the availability of having access to knappable stone. 

In this class Justin will demonstrate and give one on one instruction, tools and material will be provided. 

Cost $60 per person - Limited to 10 students for each class

Flint and Steel Fire-Making - Instructed by Matt Mercer

In this workshop you will learn how to complete flint and steel ignition using traditional and improvised sets. You will learn how to source parts of the flint and steel set from the landscape and how to make char from available natural materials. Students will learn several different techniques to use to achieve fire using the flint and steel method. You will take home an improvised flint and steel set, a char tin and charred material

Cost $20 per person - Limited to 12 students per workshop

  • Workshop 1: Friday, July 12th - 1pm to 3pm
  • Workshop 2: Saturday, July 13th - 12pm to 2pm

Bow Drill Friction Fire - Instructed by Joshua Enyart

This workshop will include everything you need to construct a bow drill set and get started producing fire by friction. All materials will be provided and you will be able to take home the kit you made to continue practicing with and use as a reference to make more kits. There will be two opportunities to take this class.
