  1. Mora Bushcraft Black

Posted by Phil on 2nd Nov 2014

I love this knife. Outstanding value for the price. In fact I prefer it over several more expensive knives that I looked at. So it doesn't have a full tang, I don't use it for a lever or prybar. I will not own a Stainless Steel hunting knife. I do like the black coating on the carbon blade for corrosion resistance. The size is perfect for cleaning fish, deer, and other camp duties. Not too big on your belt. It is a tool, if I loose it I will buy another. If I lost a $200.00 knife I would be very upset.

  2. Deserves 6 Stars

Posted by Kevin Smith on 21st Jul 2014

There's nothing I love more than a product that gives me superior value for my money. The Mora Bushcraft Black is one of those rare finds. Its high carbon blade has a razor sharp scandi grind that makes processing wood a breeze. It's not full tang, but so what? It's a beast and can withstand insane abuse without flinching. The perfect 90 degree spine allows it to throw freakin' lava off a ferro rod. This (under $50) gem out performed my BK-2, Jeff White Bush 2 knife, Ontario SK-5 Blackbird, Gerber Bear Grylls, and all of my buddy's knives. This is now my #1 go-to camping and bushcraft knife. If I had to keep only one knife, this would be it. The Mora Bushcraft Black is a grand slam home run.

  3. Could've Been 5 Stars

Posted by Jaclyn Dati on 5th May 2014

Would've gotten 5 Stars if it weren't for USPS. Knife is fantastic, but took 2 days after the USPS expected delivery date.... that wasn't even the problem though. The sheath was all scratched up, and the blade looked like someone tried to use it, and it was out of the sheath. There was brown powder all over it??? Also ordered a Mora 511 and that knife had none of these problems. That knife came sparkling and perfect so I don't get it? Anyway, no problems with the knife or the pathfinder store at all. It's a great knife!!!

  4. great knife

This knife came super sharp. Searched online and couldn't find someone who had broken this knife. Great feeling in the hand. Highly recommend it.

  5. Black as a ninja

Love the knive. Cant wait to use it on woods.

  6. Good everyday carry knife

Posted by Mike on 15th Mar 2014

For the money it is hard to beat this one, It came factory sharp and my first test is to use it on semi dry (not completely green) maple wood that is rain soaked to see how long it will stay sharp. After making some tent/tarp stakes and a baton for driving them in the ground it was still sharp and holding up well. The handle is comfortable and we will see how it does on this springs turkey hunts.

  7. Skeptical but TOTALLY suprised!

Posted by Richard Edgecomb on 30th Jan 2014

After seeing your review on the Mora Bushcraft Black with a carbon steel blade I purchased one.
I understand that a full width full tang is the strongest knife, but I've never been skeptical of the full rat tail tang knives. They are knives after all, not pry bars.
But this Mora is the first partial tang knife I have owned as I have always been skeptical of them. So, I tried the Cold Steel demonstration of placing the blade in a vice (just at where the clip begins) and placed a pipe over the handle (about 1/3 down from the pommel). I bent this knife a full 45 degrees and held it for about 2 minutes.
To my surprise it returned to it's original alignment. I checked the blade for cracks or stress marks and found none. I checked the hadle as well because the pipe was above where the tang stops. No visible signs of stress or of the end of the tang trying to poke through the handle material.
While not a scientific or conclusive test, this certainly impressed me. I thought you might be interested as well.
Thank you for highlighting this knife in your videos.
I've been following your YouTube videos since well before Dual Survivor was a gleam in the Discovery Channels eye. In fact, in those days I beleive you were a one man posse.
I've learned quite a bit and have put much of it to use. I've also purchsed a few article from you Pathfinder Store and am a loyal subscriber to "Self Reliance Illustrated" since it's inception. Thank you for providing all this information to folks like me.

  8. Mora Bushcraft Black

Posted by Carl Buzzard on 13th Dec 2013

I got my Mora Bushcraft Black and when I took it out of the package I was impressed, the handle had a great feel and fit my hand pretty good, the blade was razor sharp right out of the box, I have used it to make feather stick's it did real well, I like the thickness of the blade, it dose great on batoning for kindling, making notch's was a breeze with this knife, the only thing it need's is a full tang, other than that I would recommend this knife to anyone it a great knife.

  9. Remarkable

Posted by John on 15th Nov 2013

This is a hardy knife, very balanced and razor sharp out of the box. It's a lot of knife for the money!

  10. Exceeded my expectations

Posted by Chris on 11th Nov 2013

I have admired those who use the basic Mora knives as their go-to knives but I have always found them to be just short of what I would be comfortable staking my life on. After seeing Dave make very complimentary comments about the Bushcraft Black, I thought I'd give it a try. It is twice the knife of my other Moras. I would argue that this is the perfect knife (for me). Blued to inhibit rust, a sharp 90 degree spine, Scandinavian grind for great woodcrafting and sharpness, small enough to be worn as a neck knife and large enough to handle most anything I'll throw at it. I can not recommend it more.
