  1. cheap,reliable,and effective

You can't ask much more from a five dollar fero rod than what you get with these. I bought two of them and wasn't expecting too much. As soon as I unboxed them I tried them out and they work great. But do yourself a favor and take the plastic holders off and replace them with gorilla tape ASAP as they will fall off almost immediately as they are not epoxied on. These spray hot sparks that will ignite any tinder any other rod will with very little striking pressure. I now carry one on both of my everyday use knives.

Great product! Great price! Do yourself a favor and order ten and put them in your car, in your pocket, and hand out to your friends! :)

  2. great buy

I live in Colorado, so hunting in the mountains can get tricky sometimes. Weather changes often and the ability to get fire going at high altitude is sometimes difficult with lighters. I tried it out in my home, just goofing and it threw such a good spark, I caught paper work on fire on the first swipe. Very impressed.

  3. a must have in my get home bag

I bought this Ferro rod to keep in my bag I leave in my truck. It looks like the same one that came with my plsk 1 and it works great!!! A must have!! As always great service from path finder store and very happy with the products they sell.

  4. Works GREAT!

I have been heading out into the "back of beyond" for decades. Yep... an old timer....still kicking in my mid 60's. Fire is indeed critical. I live in southern Az....and we have two priorities here.....water and fire.

The 5 buck ferro rod that I bought from pathfinders just works great, easy HOT sparks coming off with a simple but light stroke. Started a fire the day that I got it, in two strokes. I used a small dryer lint Vaseline soaked meat ball which I make easily enough as a fire source....they work, like the ferro rod in wet or dry. And like the ferro rod.......both weigh nothing in your pack.

I now want to buy the large ferro rod that is on the website....and I will say here while I carry many ignition sources...lighters, storm matches, etc,..I will never be without this tool. On a scale of 1 to 10...a 10. I just took my magnesium block and threw it into the trash.

  5. Cheaper than canadian tire

This is a good size for the price and will last you a good many fires. The plastic handle is well attached, mine hasn't shown any loosening after weeks of use. The striker works better once the green paint comes off the edge.

  6. Awesome-

These ferro rods are thicker than the ususal ones you can find elsewhere, and they throw a nice shower of sparks. The handles on them seem to be stable. I have one in every bag I own, and also on some of my knife sheaths. Excellent value for what you get, and shipping/communication was top notch- Thank You Mr. Canterbury for stocking quality items that people can afford.

i have not used it to lite a fire yet but the amount of hot sparks with a single stroke is very impressive,,no doubt it will work well

  8. Good fire tool

Posted by kirk dustin on 29th Apr 2014

It could of been the wind that prevented a one spark blaze last weekend. Once the coating was roughed up a bit though it did the job just fine. Dryer lint on charcoal.

  9. it's a definite must have

I have five or six of these rods and they never fail. I've given several of them to my fellow hikers
